Decades of poorly implemented protection policies and the growth of power loom imitations has led to the slow downfall of the handloom sector. Even the current interest in handlooms by both the government and the fashion industry, it has not been enough to provide these skilled craftsmen a life their forefathers once enjoyed. At Torani, its our humble effort to make ties with these craftsmen, tell their stories and back a larger interest towards these crafts.
